Autumnalis Rosea



graphicAutumnalis Rosea is a cherry tree that blooms in winter in Vancouver.

The pink blossoms are tiny and grow sparsely on the trees. Even during peak bloom (which comes in mid-January), you'll find only a few blossoms on the trees.

The blossoms look like they've just woken up wih "bed hair": their petals curl up.

Photography tip: make sure you have a good zoom on your camera, autumnalis rosea cherry blossoms are very tiny and high up in the tree.

Favourite locations: Dr. Sun-Yat park, Georgia street (between Wilingown and Holdom.

The tree is located on the right, when you come through the gate. Look closely ; the blossoms are really tiny.

When to visit: mid-January to mid-February.

Cost: Free. (Only the Garden charges admission)

How to get there: B.C Stadium Skytrain.
