About the Author

Jessica Tremblay is a haiku poet from Quebec who moved to Vancouver, British Columbia, in November 2005. A few months later, she discovered (and fell in love) with cherry trees lining up the streets of Vancouver.

In 2008, her haiku "late for work - / cherry petals / in my hair" won Best B.C. Poem at the Vancouver Cherry Blossom Festival Haiku Invitational. The winning poem was sculpted in a Haiku rock in the cherry grove of the Van Dusen Botanical Garden in Vancouver, B.C.

She managed the Vancouver Cherry Blossom Festival Blossom Blog from 2013 to 2019, and volunteered as a cherry scout to identify cherry trees in her neighborhood.

Special thanks to Wendy Cutler (Vancouver Cherry Blossom Festival's Cherry Scout program leader) for teaching me how to identify cherry trees and Douglas Justice, the author of the essential guide Ornamental Cherries in Vancouver.

Thanks to the Canada Council for the Arts, British Columbia Arts Council, Digital Humanities Summer Institute, and Electronic Literature Organization for supporting my professional development in digital storytelling.
